Instabikes bicycle couriers are making home delivery fossil free and accessible to more consumers by utilizing Instabox’s network of parcel lockers.
Stockholm, Sweden. June 17th, 2020. Instabox, the Swedish last-mile delivery tech company, now launches Instabikes, a new smooth and fossil free home delivery service using bike couriers. Instabox’s existing smart parcel lockers will serve as mini hubs from where Instabikes bicycle couriers can pick up and deliver packages at the consumer’s doorstep. The company's widespread infrastructure of smart parcel lockers reduces the mileage and enables fossil free home delivery to a larger proportion of the population compared to other freight services.
The new service will be rolled out to all Instabox markets within the Nordic region, starting with the Swedish market. The service will be added at over 100 locations in Sweden, making fossil free home delivery available to about 7.5 million Swedes by the end of the year. Last month, Instabox launched smart parcel lockers in Denmark and Norway, and the plan is to expand Instabikes to these markets too.
Alexis Priftis, CEO and Co-founder of Instabox comments on the launch of Instabikes:
“We do not believe that one single shipping service can solve the customers' need for seamless deliveries, instead we want to offer alternatives that cater to different needs at different times. We have previously refrained from home delivery, because it is very difficult to make it environmentally friendly. I am therefore very proud of our innovative team that has come up with a way, using our existing infrastructure, to make home deliveries accessible to more people without compromising the environmental aspect.”
Today, Instabikes is the only fossil free home delivery option on the Swedish market. The service can maintain a low environmental footprint since all motor driven transports to the parcel lockers run on the fossil free fuel HVO. Instabikes will be available as a separate shipping option at the checkout in online stores from June 24th. Apotea and the Swedish beauty giant Lyko will be among the first online stores to offer the new service.
Rickard Lyko, CEO at the Swedish hair and beauty e-tailer Lyko, says:
“At Lyko, shipping is a major part of the customer journey and it is therefore important that deliveries are done as smoothly as possible and on the customer's terms. I am convinced that our customers will appreciate that they now can have their goods delivered to their doorstep in a climate friendly way.”
